SXTH Element Front Recovery Points for 4th Gen Tacoma - Review

Bolt-On High-Strength Recovery Points (2024+)

The factory tow hooks on the new Tacoma are fine for light tugs in a parking lot, but once you’re stuck in the mud or angled on a trail, they show their limits quickly. We swapped in the SXTH Element Front Recovery Points and have been running them for a while now. They’ve already proven to be one of the smartest early upgrades for the 4th Gen Tacoma. Stronger construction, better geometry, and easier access all add up to a huge difference when recovery is on the line.

Trail Performance and Recovery Strength

The first time we tested a recovery situation, the difference was obvious. The 7075 aluminum construction is rated for recovery loads, and the extended reach makes it far easier to line up shackles or a soft shackle without fighting around the bumper. When you’re axle-deep in mud, those small details matter. Compared to stock, they feel more secure and less likely to twist or damage the mounting area.

Design and Build Quality

Each recovery point is CNC-machined from 7075 aluminum with a red anodized finish. The finish hasn’t chipped or faded after trail use, and it also makes the points easier to spot quickly in dirt, snow, or low light. The low-profile design tucks into the front end without sticking out, but still gives a bigger footprint than the OEM hooks. Hardware comes in the box, and everything feels properly engineered for repeated abuse.

Bolt-On Installation

The install was simple and done in the driveway. Just a socket set, and about 30 minutes. You remove the factory hooks and bolt these into the same locations with the included hardware. No drilling, no cutting, and no welding. Everything lined up cleanly, and they’ve stayed tight after multiple pulls.

Daily Use and Utility

Outside of trail recoveries, these points add a purposeful look to the front end. The anodized red finish pops against the bumper, and while that’s not the only reason we run them, it’s a nice bonus. More importantly, they make it easier to connect recovery gear in a hurry. If you’ve ever been buried and fumbling for the OEM hook, you’ll appreciate the difference immediately.

Final Thoughts

The SXTH Element Front Recovery Points check all the boxes. They’re stronger, easier to access, and safer than the stock hooks. The anodized finish is functional and makes them easy to spot in low light, and installation couldn’t be simpler. If you plan on wheeling your Tacoma, these should be on your short list. They’re not flashy, but they’re one of the most practical mods you can make to protect your truck and make recoveries safer and less stressful.
